Cathedral restoration

Auckland’s ST PATRICK'S CATHEDRAL is a Historic Places Trust Category 'A' structure but the roof leaked up to 18 buckets of water a day, walls were cracked, it suffered from rising damp and posed a major earthquake risk. Consequently a $13million conservation and restoration project expanding two years was completed in September 2007, the extent of which is evidenced the minute you enter the original timber doors juxtaposed by frameless glass double doors, highlighting the contrast and synergy of old and new.
Euroglass was selected by FLETCHER CONSTRUCTION as the supplier of multiple sets of 10mm toughened glass doors featuring brass patch fittings and 600mm brass pull handles. This project also included a special ‘cathedral-shaped’ overlite and door to the new children’s chapel, as well as glass balustrading alongside the altar stairs secured by our bolt-on Euroanchors™.
